Christ does not pursue earthly honor, He pursues His sheep.

JOHN 2:23–24
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing. 24 But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people

JOHN 1:11
11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.


Faith based in signs and seeing can lead to a faith based in the Word and hearing.

JOHN 8:24
24 I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.”

ROMANS 10:17
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

JOHN 10:37–38
37 “If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; 38 but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.”

ACTS 2:22
22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know…”






God often uses desperation to bring the sinner to genuine faith.

PSALM 107:13–14
13 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and burst their bonds apart.



Faith and obedience are followed by signs of confirmation.

JOHN 7:17
17 If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.

EXODUS 3:12
12 He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”


Testimony of genuine faith can lead to genuine faith in others.

ACTS 16:31
31 And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
